About the Badge

Stitched into our daily rituals and woven into the tapestry of life,
coffee is a part of all of us.

In my personal experience after years of working in coffee sustainability, there is one question that continues to excite me:

“What if, rather than adding to the problem, our coffee habit could be helping mend our ecosystems?”

This badge represents an unwavering commitment to explore the beautiful, albeit seemingly unrealistic possibilities created by this question and others like it. It is for people who envision beauty and want to change the world … plus look good doing it. Tony Cade Bambara, a prominent feminist organizer, said, “The role of the activist is to make the revolution irresistible.”

The She Grows Coffee Badge represents:

· A true appreciation for coffee.
· A curiosity to learn more about coffee.
· An awareness that coffee is a plant, a drug, and a delicious daily habit.
· An awareness of the issues in coffee and a commitment to address them.
· An understanding that cooperation produces the best coffee.
· An overall personal drive to be a better consumer with coffee.

Homo Sapiens are supposed to be the ‘wise ones’ and we’re at a crossroads in existence. Our coffee habit has a big footprint (social & environmental) that cannot be ignored. Becoming more aware of our daily habits and the issues that surround them is the first step towards effective engagement in the co-creation of a better tomorrow, today.
